EBay Sniper - Get Items Cheaper and Easier
by Anthony Kristovich III

If you're reading this, you must already know of eBay.com. Very few people don't. However, you may not be aware of auction snipers, or what they can do for you, so let me define it. An eBay auction sniper places a bid in the final seconds of an auction on your behalf. You may be saying to yourself that it's no big deal, you can bid yourself no problem. Well, read on, and you'll see all the great benefits to using a bid sniper.

The first benefit is convenience. The convenience of setting a snipe ahead of time and not having to be on the computer at auction close to put in a bid. So the natural question in most people's minds is they can just put in a bid far ahead of closing, no need to do it last-second. If you don't care about overpaying, this is the easiest thing to do.

This brings about the second benefit. Bidding far before the end of the auction close does nothing but drive up the price of the item for sale, and is a huge waste of money. When a person puts in a bid in advance, people have the time to bid that little bit higher than they really wanted to because, afterall, another dollar isn't too much. When you have 2-3 people doing this, the price of the item skyrockets and a lot of those little-bit-higher bids adds up fast. The only people that benefit from this are sellers and eBay(they get a percentage of the final sale price). Getting an item for a cheaper price is the main reason most eBayers use an auction sniper on a regular basis.

Still, there is a third benefit that many eBayers love -- your bid is not placed until near auction close, giving you as a buyer time to think over the bid and perhaps cancel the bid if you find one cheaper, or no longer have a need for the item.

Most eBayers have an eBay sniper to give them an advantage over those that do not. You either snipe or get sniped, it's as simple as that. Most people find out after losing out on an item how handy a tool it has become. It can make your eBay experience that much better.

Anthony Kristovich III runs the CodingCentre website. Software such as the eBay sniper Super Sniper PRO helps users snipe items from eBay very easily. You can get more information about this software at http://www.codingcentre.com.

EBay Sniper - Save Money by Bidding Smarter
by Anthony Kristovich III

If you buy items off of eBay, an eBay Sniper is the single best investment you can make. For many reasons contained in this article it will save you the cost of the program many times over. I'm sure you've experienced the "been-sniped" syndrome. Up until 10 seconds before auction end, you have the top bid. Piece of cake, you think. You even bump up your bid by a few bucks to be sure. The auction ends, but after refreshing the auction page, you see you were beaten. Someone bid last second. That guy must be fast! Only that guy is asleep in bed, and an eBay sniper running on his computer outbid you for him. Not fair. The only way to compete is to use the same advantage of an eBay sniper. Besides, as you'll read later in this article, it actually makes smart economic sense to use an eBay sniper.

3 types of eBay bidders

There are basically 3 types of bidders. The first is the minimum bidder. This is the person that bids the next minimum bid, and when outbid does the same minimum bid. This only drives up the price of the item as most bidders like this are not serious about the item.

The second type of bidder is the emotional bidder. This is the one that keeps outbidding the other person no matter what, and only cares about winning, no matter how much they are actually paying for the item. This is great for the seller and eBay(they get final value fees), but not so great for the buyer, as the price can be triple what the item is worth. Team this up with the minimum bidder and the prices really skyrocket.

The third type of bidder is the smart bidder. They use an eBay sniper. They choose the price they feel is the most they are willing to pay for the item, put that in, and set it and forget it. This way, there's no bidding war. If the item goes for too much, there will be another coming along just like it and probably an even better deal.

Why an eBay sniper is the best way to bid

eBay wants you to believe that you should use their proxy bidding system. While it is true that you can put in your maximum bid and the program will auto-bid against other bids on your behalf, you don't want your bid to go in until the final seconds of the auction. Until your snipe goes in, eBay has no idea you are bidding. Your competitors have no idea you are bidding. You just swoop in and snipe the item at the last moment. The only way to lose is if someone else is willing to pay more. If someone is willing to pay more, no matter what you'll lose, that's just how eBay works. Most people are either minimum bidders or emotional bidders, though, and against tho you will win easily. Also something to keep in mind with the final prices. The more an item sells for, the more eBay gets as it's cut. This is why you won't see on any of their pages that an eBay sniper is a way to get better deals.

There are even more benefits from using an eBay sniper. For one, an item is more attractive to other buyers once it has bids. It must be a bargain or no one would be bidding they are thinking. When an item has no bids, most people are looking for the reason why nobody is bidding and will likely not bid for that exact reason. Waiting until the end of the auction to bid means the item is less likely to gain the attention of other buyers, giving you a chance at an even better deal.

Another benefit is that you have time to think over you bid and change your mind if needed. eBay does not look fondly to retracting bids, and doing it more than once may get your permanently banned from eBay. You may realize the next day that you really don't need the item, or that the bid you had in mind is a little more than you want to pay for it. You can change the bid that will be put in, or even cancel it altogether. You're not committed to buying the item until just a few seconds before the end of the auction.

There is more than the type of eBay sniper that runs on your computer. Some are online ones you sign into on the web and it snipes for you. For some this is a good move, especially if you are using dial-up. For others, they don't want a 3rd party to have all of their eBay information. What if the site gets broken into, someone could go to town and ruin your eBay account, also making you responsible for any purchases or sales. For these reasons, many choose to use an eBay sniper that runs off of their own personal computer, so all the information is self-contained on their own computer and nobody else has any of their personal information. Add in that software on your own computer is a one-time cost, and no monthly costs of $5+ a month, and it's a winning deal. You get better deals, less work, and a more enjoyable eBay experience. Just a few dollars for a piece of software that can do all that for you is an incredible deal and should be had by everyone even semi-serious about eBay.

Sell Like Crazy On eBay This Christmas
by Steve Shannon

Serious eBay™ sellers are faced with the same dilemma each Christmas shopping season. “What should I spend my valuable resources promoting this year that will give me the greatest return?”

The obvious answer should be: Sell what people really want.

Unfortunately, most people get hung up on what they “think” will sell rather than what will in fact sell; which is why most people struggle.

So, how can you tell what will sell like crazy?

Well, here is what eBay™ Platinum PowerSeller™ Jason James recently had to say about this puzzle.

“Most consumers are generally looking on eBay for the same types of items they are looking for in a traditional brick and mortar store. If it is "hot" at the department store, it will most likely be hot on eBay. So, if you are a thinking of selling on eBay, you need to know what is hot and what is not.”

“This can be accomplished by paying close attention to trends in local stores and by reading consumer magazines. You should pay close attention to what is selling and what you hear people talking about.”

“If you sell technology, listen to the teens. They know what they want and their parents want to get them what they want. If a large majority of teens thinks an item is "cool" it will be a "hot" selling item on eBay.”

Other than careful consideration of the competition on eBay™ for a particular “hot” item, the only other major thing a seller needs to do is find the most inexpensive source for the item in question. Naturally, this is where liquidators and wholesalers (as well as “drop-ship” wholesalers) come into the picture.

Once you have possession of “hot-selling” items at dirt-cheap prices, the rest is, as Santa would say: “in the bag”.

Secrets for Selling Successfully on eBay™” free at

How to Locate Wholesale Products for Free to Sell on eBay

Too good to be true? Is there a catch? Yes, you really can obtain

items at no cost to sell on eBay. Read on for the details....

There is a new website in which people list items they are giving away

website for your local group by clicking on community links at the FreeCycle

website.

FreeCycle was started in May 2003 to promote waste reduction in Tucson,

Arizona's downtown area and help save their beautiful desert landscape

from being taken over by landfills. It provides individuals and non

profit groups an electronic forum to "recycle" unwanted items. This

site can be used to get rid of excess items in your house and garage, as

well as getting items you can resell for a large profit on eBay.

Obtaining a steady stream of items at no cost to sell on eBay can jumpstart

a new eBay business; or it can add an additional revenue stream to your

How to Supercharge Your eBay Feedback Rating
by Tim Gilberg

Quickly boost your eBay feedback score in just three days using these simple tips. You can use this system to buy liquidation or wholesale lots and double or even triple your bid.

Your feedback score on eBay and any of the other auction sites allows you to have instant credibility with both buyers and sellers. I will explain in the following paragraphs a quick way to add 10 to 50 positive feedback points for under $5, and you may get also get some great new information.

Important - You will only receive one feedback rating per eBay User ID, no matter how many products you buy from that user. For example, if you purchased 10 books for 1cent/each from the same seller, you would only be credited with one positive feedback point. In the beginning, my advice to you would be to buy multiple low cost items from different seller id's. This will allow you to build a great feedback record in a matter of hours instead of the normal 2-3 months time frame it usually takes.

There are many people selling information products for pennies on eBay. Log on to eBay and do a Search. Types in book then choose Lowest Priced Listings; you will see a multitude of offers, many as low as a penny, for books that can be downloaded with no shipping charge. This is a great way to build instant feedback. You can pay via www.paypal.com. Click their link to sign up. You can send payments in seconds with PayPal, which was purchased by eBay last year.

I also recommend you buy any consumables, such as inkjet and toner cartridges on eBay. You will find they are super values! When you shop smart on eBay, you can pick up many items at wholesale or below. You can buy these using the auction sniping service Bidnapper. This will allow you to become familiar with auction sniping (winning the bid in the last seconds with automated bid software). The ideas and concepts will be much clearer when you actively participate in the eBay community as both a buyer and a seller.

There are definitely many positive aspects to having 10 or more positive feedback points. First, it allows you to use the Buy It Now feature when you are selling products on eBay. Many eBay buyers search for these listings if they don't want to wait for an auction to end.

Your auctions will receive more bids, and in turn sell for higher amounts, when your feedback is over 10. Auction studies have shown that when feedback achieves 50 or greater, you will see an additional 10% increase in views and prices.

Selling Second-hand Books On EBay
by Stephen Webb

To be able to make a part time income on eBay you need a steady supply of products that are constantly in demand.

There is a serious problem with obtaining products from wholesalers or drop shippers. Basically, anyone else can also obtain the same products and undercut you pricing on eBay.

It’s very hard to regularly make a part time income on eBay with products that can be obtained by virtually anyone. You need a product that is unique to you, a product that would be difficult for anyone to copy.

But you may not have the skills or knowledge to create your own product. So what do you do?

I think that I may have the answer for you. There is a huge market on eBay for second-hand books. Over four thousand are sold each week. That’s a big market and you should be able to create a part-time income for yourself.

The great thing about second hand books is that they are readily available but not from wholesalers and drop shippers. So this eliminates the problem of people undercutting your price.

The potential profit on a book can be quite large. For example you may buy a book for $20 and resell it for $40 to $50. That is a big profit margin and I doubt if you can find many other products that match that profitability.

To be able to successfully sell second hand books you will need to get a list of which types of books are in demand. For example is a James Bond book more treasured than an Enid Blyton.book?

You will also need to learn how to identify and describe the condition of each book that you sell. This is vital for creating an advert on eBay that will attract potential buyers. You will need to be able to asses and describe the condition of the spine, hinges, cover, pages, dust jacket and many other aspects of the book.

You’ll be amazed at the sort of places where you can buy second-hand books for resell, such as junk shops, thrift shops, charity shops, garage sales, estate sales, car boot sales. You can often buy a book for a very low price at these places and resell for a huge profit.

So, you can see that there is a lot to learn about buying and selling second hand books, but the profit margin makes it all worth while.

Visit the following website if you would like a free report about how to make money from finding and reselling second hand books. http://www.books2profit.com

eBay Auctions - Listing for Top Dollar
by Jamie Dale

If you’re at all familiar with eBay, you know that some seller’s listings always seem to end at a higher bid than other seller’s listings. Do they have secret knowledge that gets them higher bids? In a way, they do.

There are some tried and true secrets that, when put into action, will allow you to sell your items for more money than you would have if you didn’t have this knowledge. Below are 5 of the easiest ways to make sure that you sell your item for the best possible price.

Secret Number 1 – Pictures, Pictures, Pictures!

I’ve seen it a million times. Someone has a valuable item for sale but there’s not a picture to be seen anywhere in the auction description. That’s a BIG problem. People like to see what they’re buying and if you don’t post any pictures, you’re not going to be getting top-dollar for what you’re selling.

Whenever you list an item to sell, always include at least one picture. The more pictures you post, the better. There’s no such thing as too many pictures. Post as many as you can.

Secret Number 2 – End it on a Monday afternoon. It used to be that ending your auction on a Sunday night was your best bet. However, everyone caught on and now there’s so much competition on Sunday night, your item is likely to get lost in the shuffle. End your auction on a Monday afternoon and you're likely to see your bid price soar.

Secret Number 3 – Use the Gallery Option

When listing your item to sell, eBay has a gallery picture option. This means that a thumbnail photo of your item will appear next to your listing description in the website search results. If you want top dollar for your item, use this option.

Secret Number 4 – Encourage Competitive Bidding

If you have a popular item for sale and you know a lot of people will be interested in it (such as the hottest toy of the year around Christmas time) start the bidding out at $1. You can either put it at $1 with no reserve or if you’re not comfortable with that, list it at $1 with a reserve price of as low as you’re willing to sell the item for.

Secret Number 5 –

Accept payment by credit card. People like convenience and if you want top dollar for your item, you’re going to want to accept credit cards. There are a number of payment processing services on the web, like Paypal.com, who will allow you to process payments via credit card.

The rules of linking from your Ebay auctions
by Jason James

Because ebay is such a busy place of merchandise sales with many various ebay stores and markets selling thousands of items, there must be a few rules that are set in place to insure that everyone is playing fair. Ebay auctions are a gift for us to make easy money without having the overhead or the stress of running other types of businesses so it is ideal that we all adhere to their policies.

Very few other issues will get ebay sellers arguing about the rules no more than the rules on linking to and from your ebay auctions. Ebay has some very firm rules when it comes to liking and it would be wise of you to follow them to insure that your ebay auctions stay online and profitable.

Below are the following links that you may use in your ebay auction description:

1. On your ebay auction, you may have one link to an additional web page for information. This web page is to be used exclusively for further information about whatever ebay item that you are selling from you ebay auction.

2. Your ebay auction may have links to more photo images of the merchandise that you are selling on ebay.

3. If you want your customer to click on a link from your ebay auction that opens up to separate window to send you an email, then that is ok. In fact this little ebay auction email window may increase inquiries of your ebay selling item.

4. Ebay auction links that connects to your other ebay auctions or any of your other ebay auctions stores is also permissible.

5. You may have one link that links to your ebay About Me page. This is in addition to the link next to your user ID that ebay provides for your ebay auction.

6. Ebay authorizes you to have links to your vendors' websites that help you with your auctions. Ebay considers any type of listing services, payment providers, and software programs to be 3rd party vendors.

In addition to the above Ebay linking rules that are authorized for your Ebay auctions there are also links that are not allowed with ebay.

1. You cannot have any links that link to other websites that offers to sell, trade, or purchase merchandise outside of Ebay. This should be obvious but many new sellers to Ebay auctions break this rule.

2. Links to any other websites that encourages ebay bidders to place their bids outside of ebay are not authorized in your ebay auctions

3. Your ebay auction cannot have links that link to outside websites that offers to sell merchandise that is considered illegal at ebay. 4. Links that connect to websites that solicit ebay user Ids and passwords is also unauthorized to have within your ebay auction.

When it comes to linking from your About Me page the ebay rules are pretty much the same overall with your ebay auction. Because ebay gives you this page to self promote your business, then linking to your website from it is allowed.

On the other hand, you need to be sure that the link does connect to other trading sites or to website businesses that sell the same product or merchandise at the same price or lower price than what is advertised on ebay.

Boost E-Bay Profits with Audio
by heidi chartier

Can you boost profits significantly by adding audio to your E-Bay auctions? According to a recent article on a net business site the answer is a definite yes. In fact, one e-book author suggested that adding audio to your auctions could potentially increase bids by as much as 22% over auctions without audio.

A recent trend showing up on a lot of websites is the addition of an audio clip. The clip is a personal message by the author or the website owner encouraging you to take advantage of what they offer.

The psychology behind this technique is really Marketing 101. It's called personalization. An audio clip added to your Ebay auction allows you to personally tell the potential bidder about the product. Using your own voice allows you to make contact with the bidder on a personal level that written words cannot. Because, that's what your E-Bay auction really is...It's just a long written classified ad asking the bidder to make an offer to purchase your item.

Prior to the advent of the telephone the only reliable way to communicate long distance was by writing letters. It was not unusual back then for lovers to write each other daily or weekly. The decline of letter writing is a well documented event that coincides with the advent of the telephone. The power of the human voice to convey a message triumphs that of the written word.

With audio you can describe the item, tell the bidder why you are selling it or even communicate with them about your refund policy or provide your contact information. The possibilities are almost unlimited as a way to establish a rapport with the bidder.

There are some technical elements to adding audio to your E-Bay auctions. The simplest way is to upload a .wav or Mp3 file to a website and provide a link to the file. When the bidder clicks on the link his or her computer will automatically recognize the file and play it with the audio player on the bidders computer.

There are some drawbacks to this method. If the bidder's computer doesn't recognize the file it won't play. The overall effect is not as professional as it could be and it distracts the bidder. If you are a reasonably tech savvy type you can easily deal with the drawbacks of this approach.

For the rest of us, there are a number of software solutions and websites that will simplify the task of adding audio to our E-Bay auctions. These different programs and websites range from charging a one time fee to monthly fee's for the use of the program. The good news is that many of them will let try them for as little as $1 for a trial basis or let you download a demo version to see how well it will work for you.

8 Imaging mistakes to avoid when uploading your Ebay auction photo
by Jason James

It is no secret that having professional looking photos that are upscale in quality will help create more Ebay auction sales and attract higher bid buyers. Each and every product that you sell on Ebay, even it you are promoting a service, should have a photo cropped and fit to please the eye.

As much of a positive impact that a decent photo has on your business, the exact opposite will come into effect if you display a distasteful photo of poor quality on your auction. Even if your product is sound and your service is top notch this still may never matter if your Ebay photo creates an illusion of poor quality in the buyers eyes.

In order create good Ebay product photos then be sure to stay clear from these common mistakes that are made my Ebay sellers when creating their digital photo for the auction:

1. Glare: Along the lines of poor lighting, glare is the result of improper flash usage. Try not to take your pictures head on when wanting beautiful photos for your Ebay auction. Try instead to shoot the product from an angle. Such angles are from the left, from the right, or even from the top of the project. Coming from an under angle also works for photos for your Ebay auctions.

2. Cropping: Have you seen those Ebay auction pictures that have the item in the middle of all of the background distractions? Now that is very annoying to those viewing your Ebay auction. You should crop everything that you take a photo for. Nobody wants to see your messy bedroom or the garage where you took the picture at and it may detour many from looking further into your Ebay auction. Keep all distractions out of your Ebay photo by cropping everything but the product. Trust me, your Ebay auction will thank you for it in sales.

3. Background: Having a fancy background like countertop designs or table garnishes only distract from your Ebay auction product. Sure this may seem like something pleasant to do but this mistake is very similar to not cropping properly in that it may make your Ebay auction customer loose focus on what you are selling.

4. Fuzzy images: If your Ebay auction images are fuzzy and blurry to view then all you are telling the customer is that you do not have any consideration for detail and quality. This lack of preparation with your Ebay photos will give the customer a perception that you may just treat your products and customer service with the same lack of attention. You have one chance with your Ebay auction so be sure to check the focus before you snap the photo and use a tripod if necessary to avoid blur.

5. Lighting quality: Do not deplete the value of your Ebay auction by having dim lighting for your product photo. On the other hand, too much lighting can also create a very bad picture in the customers mind as they are viewing your Ebay auction. You should take several snapshots of the product to view each photo for lighting problems. Then begin your cropping.

6. Close up shots: There are some Ebay auction items that are so small and need a closer look by the customer. Do you have these close up photos in your Ebay auction? I strongly suggest that you do not make the mistake of selling something like jewelry but not including up close photos. Your camera should have a zoom feature which can take very close shots of the item with total accuracy.

7. Avoid reflective surfaces: This mistake that happens to many Ebay auction photos falls into the categories of poor lighting and blurry images. Light issues can really make or break your Ebay sales if not attended to and reflective light can do the same damage. Be sure to remove any shiny objects from the background from the site where you are taking your Ebay Auction photo to avoid this distraction.

8. Confusing combo shots: Do not take pictures and post multiple items within the same block that your main item is for sale is located. This will create confusion from the buyer and will prevent your Ebay auction from making the sales that you want. Customers have one thing in mind and the only product that you should be posting is of a picture of the main single item.

How To Post Your First Auction On eBay
by Jason Cooper

It's very easy and simple to get started posting your first auction on eBay. This article will cover the steps you need to follow to get your first auction up.

The first thing you need to do is set up your eBay seller's account. If you have already bought things on eBay in the past, then you already have an account. Just log in and click "Sell" on the toolbar at the top of the page and then click "Create a seller's account".

If you have never bought or sold on eBay, then you need to create a new account. First click on the "register" link beneath the toolbar, then click "Sell" and "Create a seller's account". From there the eBay website will guide you through the process of getting set up. For security reasons, this may involve including providing your card and banking information.

You can register for your eBay account here: eBay.com

Now that you're registered, you need to decide what you want to sell. It doesn't really matter what you sell, this is just your chance to get your feet wet. Check your garage and attic, I'm sure you can find something that you're not attached to and something interesting. Small items like books and CDs are great for your first time.

Once you have your item picked out, it's time to submit it. Just click "Sell" and you're on your way. The first thing you need to do is choose the best category for your item. eBay makes this easy, you just type in your item, and eBay suggests the best category for you. It's usually best to just go with the category that eBay comes up with.

The next step is writing the title and description for your item. You want to make sure to include any keywords that people might use when searching for your item in the title. Include all the rest of the information in the description.

Now you need to set your starting price. In order to draw people to bid on your auction, set a starting price of $0.01. Don't worry because items almost never end up as such a low price. Next set the duration of the auction. You have the choices of 3, 5, 7 and 10 days. This is really up to you, the longer the auction the more bids you are likely to get. Add a picture to your auction because items with pictures always sell for more.

Great, now you're ready to select the payment methods you want to accept, and where you will post to. I would just go with PayPal for now, and limit yourself to the country you are in. Just click the "Submit" button and you are done!

Now you can just sit back and let eBay work it's magic. Potential buyers will search for your item and submit bids on it. Some bidders may email you with various questions about your item. Just do your best to answer the questions as quickly and thoroughly as possible.

Don't worry if your item doesn't sell the first time. The great thing about eBay, is that if your item doesn't sell the first time, you can list it again for free!

Once the auction closes and you have a winning bidder, eBay takes care of all the work. eBay will send your buyer emails guiding them through the process of sending you payment for the item your are selling. Just make sure you have the money in hand before you send the item.

eBay prefers that you use PayPal to send and receive your payments. PayPal is very safe and secure and you will get your money instantly so it's a good idea to use them. It's also free to create an account with PayPal.

You can create your free PayPal account here: PayPal.com

As soon as you have received the payment, all you have left to do is pack up the item and send it to your buyer. If you're not sure of the best way to get this done, just take your item to your local post office and they can help you. Use the buyers address from the confirmation email that eBay sent you and write it on the package. That's it, you've made your first successful sale on eBay!

by Jason James

We have all seen the headlines about some grandmother selling her beanie baby collection for tens of thousands of dollars or the formerly unemployed couple who are now running their own business and seem to be living on easy street: and all of it is thanks to that miraculous Ebay business machine! But the question we all have to wonder is whether these are just lucky people or if anyone can indeed make money using Ebay.

The truth is this: yes, anyone can make money on Ebay! The grandmother and thousands like her are using Ebay auctions to sell their collectibles and other items to the highest bidder in a global marketplace. The unemployed couple might be a pair of drop shippers taking advantage of the high traffic on Ebay to boost their sales. But how do any of us get from where we are now to one of those success stories in the headlines?

Begin Your Ebay Adventure

Before you start counting those imaginary profits in your head it is important to remember that every great idea starts small and slowly builds momentum. Whether you are interested in drop shipping or online auctions, the very first step that needs to be taken in order to make money on Ebay is to register your business.

Now you may be thinking that you don't have a business so what is there to register?! The truly great thing about the Ebay business miracle is that you don't need a lot of capital or an existing business to get started. What you do need, however, is to register your business. For that, you will need an original name, a checking account number, and a credit card. It would probably be a good idea to set up a Paypal account as well so you can receive credit card payments from people without having a merchant credit card account.

Use Ebay Auctions to Build Confidence

In all honesty, Ebay offers people a wide range of options for making money using their site and high traffic. Ebay auctions are just one component of this fascinating company but it is a good starting point for people begin from for a couple of reasons.

First, who among us doesn't have some things around the house that we really have no use for any longer? By rounding up these items you already have an existing inventory that you need to sell and therefore a starting point.

Secondly, by listing your merchandise and going through the auction process (including setting a starting price and determining what auction options you wish to use), you are familiarizing yourself with the Ebay business and how it operates. If you choose to expand into a dedicated Trading Assistant or even into drop shipping-well, that is up to you but at least you have your feet wet and some money to keep things rolling!

Now there is no question that you can make money on Ebay but do not allow yourself to be tempted into thinking success and fortunes are built overnight. By starting out slowly and getting to know how the Ebay business machine works by selling some old items around the house and making a little money, you are laying a foundation of knowledge that you can build future success upon.

This auction selling has reached a fever pitch and the Ebay business machine just keeps growing and growing. Selling on Ebay has went from an Internet novelty to becoming one of the fastest growing companies in the world with tens of millions of people visiting and using the site each year.

But can people like you and I really make any real money selling on Ebay? I mean, we only have so much stuff! At some point we are going to run out of things to place for auction selling and then we will have to buy new things to sell on Ebay. Selling our things on Ebay may be a great way to make a few bucks on things we don't need any longer, but it can hardly be considered a real job that we could do day in and day out for money to pay bills with... right?

Ebay Trading Assistants

While there may be almost a billion people wired into the Internet, some are definitely more computer savvy than others. For these people and for countless others who plain just do not have the time to post their valuables on Ebay, this is precisely where Trading Assistants come in. Basically, Trading Assistants make money on Ebay by selling on Ebay things that do not belong to them.

By charging an agreed upon fee for all of the work involved in getting items posted in the online auctions held by Ebay, Trading Assistants help other people make money off of their old things while making some money for themselves in the process. It's a win-win scenario! By becoming a Trading Assistant in the worldwide Ebay business machine, you are registered in a directory with over 50,000 others just like you that people can look up and contact when needing someone to help them sell their wares through electronic auction selling.

Trading Assistant Requirements

Never forget that selling on Ebay is a privilege and not a right. Likewise, not just anyone can become a Trading Assistant and make money on Ebay by selling other people's things. There are some conditions that you have to meet in order to qualify for the Trading Assistant status.

First, you must have sold at least 4 items in the past thirty days. Second, your feedback rating must be 50 or higher with 97% of it being positive. Finally, your account must be in good standing before you can make money on Ebay by selling other people's things.

Selling on Ebay has indeed become a worldwide phenomenon. While you can definitely make money on Ebay by selling your own possessions, becoming a Trading Assistant is a way to make online auctions your stock in trade. Why not make money from the privacy of your own home doing something you enjoy? Ebay offers assistance to help newcomers get started and to date there is no fee but the company does reserve the right to change that policy-so don't delay! Start selling on Ebay and then sign up for the Trading Assistant program so you can make money on Ebay all year round by selling other people's things!

How Do Online Auctions Actually Work?
by Jason James

In the past few years, online auctions have really become a popular way for people around the world to buy and sell goods. Now I am not just talking about coins, figurines, or other collectibles. In fact, collectibles only ranked sixth in 2004 for all items sold on Ebay with a total value of $2.2 billion dollars worth of sales. But, perhaps surprising to some you just as it was to me, automobiles actually ranked first in sales on Ebay last year with over $11 billion generated through the online auctions hosted by the company.

Yes, the Ebay business machine just keeps growing every year and now you finally want to learn how to sell some of the things lying around your home to make some of that money that seems to be changing hands like gold through all the auction selling. Well my friend, it is about time because online auctions are a simple and convenient way to make real money from home and have fun in the process!

How Basic Online Auctions Operate

The Ebay business machine has grown and evolved over the years so that there are now several different methods to post and sell merchandise. The most basic ebay auctions operate very similarly to a real auction.

The seller first must register and then write a description of the product being sold. Although some copy writing is helpful, a little practice and some homework are all you need to have a basic idea of how to describe your product. Then, you set a price that you want the bidding to start at and designate a time limit as to how long you intend to allow people to bid on your posted merchandise. Then, when time runs out, you must sell your product to the highest bidder. Doesn't really seem that hard to make money on Ebay, does it?

Online Auctions with Reserve Price

There is certainly no one out here that wants their Ebay business venture to end in failure which is precisely why some people opt for the "Reserve Price" option. This "reserve price" is the minimum amount of money that you will take for whatever it is you are trying to sell via the online auctions.

No one can actually see the reserve price except for you so you still get the main benefit of online auctions which is to get people to bid against one another for your product while driving the price upwards. But, for ebay auctions having this reserve price set, the product will not go to the highest bidder unless they have a bid that is equal to or higher than your minimum price. This is a particularly good option for higher end or specialty products to protect you from low-ball bidding and losing a bunch of money.

Online Auctions Using "Buy It Now" Option

Now if you are impatient, need to sell something immediately, or are offering something that might sell better with a fixed price, you can choose the "buy it now" option when posting your merchandise. This allows buyers to purchase your product immediately for a fixed price without going through the trouble of monitoring the bids and waiting for the time limit to expire.

For those of you thinking that online auctions are a mere fad, guess again. With access to a global marketplace and more people than ever using the Internet to buy the things they want and need, online auctions are only going to increase in popularity in the coming years. Auction selling is the best and fairest way to get the best price for anything being sold. Plus, if you play your cards right and are savvy enough, you might just be able to quit that day job and start making money from home selling things you love to people that want your goods!

Minimize Risk with Wholesale Drop Shipping
by Jason James

If you don't know about the behemoth growing out there in cyberspace calling itself Ebay, then welcome to the planet Earth. Not only is Ebay one of the biggest Internet success stories in history, it is still growing. Not only does it allow people to come to its website and bid upon items they want, it also allows people to open their own Ebay business and use online auctions to make money. Wholesale drop shipping is a great way to sell on Ebay virtually risk free.

What is Wholesale Drop Shipping?

For a person using their Ebay store to sell items to bidders on the Internet, there is a fair amount of work that takes place behind the scenes. An Ebay business owner must secure inventory, find a place to store it until being sold, package it, and then ship the products to customers.

Drop shippers offer Ebay store owners a chance to simplify the entire process and make larger profits in the process. A wholesale drop shipping company provides and stores the inventory. Then, when someone buys an item from an Ebay business owner, that owner simply processes the order and sends it and payment onto the drop shippers who then package and ship the product to the customer.

The customer never knows that a third party exists because drop shippers will package the product using the Ebay business owner's labeling. By purchasing the products at wholesale prices, the Ebay store owner profits the difference between that price and the winning bid amount while the drop shippers take care of everything else.

Virtually Risk Free

An Ebay business owner who does not use a wholesale drop shipping company must bear the expense of buying the inventory and waiting until a sale is made before recuperating their investment. By using drop shippers, nothing is paid out by the Ebay store owner until they receive payment for the item from the customer. It is an ideal arrangement for people with little start up capital.

While not a problem in the beginning, there may come a point where an Ebay business owner must pay to store their inventory. This is another expense that you never have to worry about when using drop shippers.

Wholesale drop shipping generally requires no charge on the part of the Ebay business owner for selling the drop shipper's products. When there is a fee, it is generally so small that it is literally dwarfed by the benefits and profits received using a drop shipper.

Basically, the only thing that an Ebay business owner must invest when using wholesale drop shipping to sell on Ebay is time. And the majority of the time that is required on the part of the owner is spent researching and trying to find the best drop shipper to supply them with the products they wish to sell.

If you want to get into the world of Ebay auctions but are on a shoestring budget, wholesale drop shipping is definitely the way to go. They require little or no money of Ebay business owners to sell their products. In the process, they take care of the entire logistics involved in getting the item to your customer. So if you are serious about making money selling on Ebay but don't want to take any big risks, look into the world of drop shipping today!

Top 10 Tips To Selling Successfully on eBay
by Jason James

As a successful powerseller on eBay I often get turned to for advice. Since I registered on eBay in 2000, I've ran thousands of profitable auctions which I follow these guidelines. Most importantly always try to be fair with other users who deal with you and never be intimidated by any competition. eBays big enough for us all, and currently there is 1 seller registered to 78 buyers.

1) Low starting Price

Before you list your auction, ask yourself what's the lowest amount you'd be prepared to accept for your item. A low starting price will attract more bids and at a quicker pace - usually within the first day of the listings. Research shows that a .99c starting price will get you bidders within a few hours. Many vehicles and high value items are sold with a low starting price especially by established powersellers - because unless it's an extremely poor week the item will normally end up with hundreds of bids & at a cost that's acceptable to the seller.

Additionally users are more likely to view auctions which already have a successful bid as it generates interest in your item. It's like if you see a market stall with hundreds of people standing around it - your curiosity would tell you to stop & see what's generating all the interest. Use human curiosity to your advantage.

2) No Reserve

Many sellers still place reserve prices on their item. A reserve price is one which unless it is met by your sellers you are not obliged to sell the item. An example would be if you have an reserve of $10, and your item sells for $9.00 you do not have to complete the sale & release the item. Reserve items, although very occasionally may be necessary in the case of extremely high value items or businesses for sale are off putting to bidders. Why would you bid on an item with a reserve price on, unless you already knew were aware of what the reserve was. Personally I'd look for alternative items without a reserve price.

eBay has already removed the Reserve Price option from some of it's site in a move that is largely welcome by the majority of users. It could be a sign that this policy change will be extended to all of it's sites.

3) Images

An Image is worth a thousand words. Take photos of your item to clearly show the condition of it, and any damage or unusual aspects of it. eBay allows you to include one photo free of charge & if you use your own image hosting service you can easily include as many photos as necessary to show your item in a detailed manner. Many powersellers use up to 20 photos for one single item. Ask yourself how many are necessary for your item. & also consider using the gallery option so the image will appear within the search listings.

4) Cross-Promotion

You've worked hard to get users to view your listing, so while their viewing it also include a link to any other items you've available. This is allowed in addition to the already provided link to "View other sellers items". You can use commercial services (such as Anadale) to include images & descriptions of your other items.

5) About Me Page

Sell yourself on your About Me Page. This is your chance to establish some credibility for yourself. The biggest reason people will not buy from you online is because you have failed to establish any credibility for yourself. So include details about you & your business. Where are you suituated?, how long have you been registered on eBay?, What do you specialise in? If your a high volume seller you may also want to include a photo of yourself. Have a look at other About Me pages to see what works and what doesn't.

6) Return Policy

Nothing gives buyers greater confidence than knowing that they can return the product if it's not for them. So consider drafting yourself a returns policy.

Will you accept returns? What if the item arrives faulty? How long is the policy valid for?

It may seem like a big risk to offer such a policy knowing that you'll have to incur a cost relisting & reshipping items but only a very small amount of users will return the items.

7) Feedback

Leave feedback for the winning bidder as soon as the item is paid for. Some sellers like to protect themselves by only returning feedback when it is left for you. I consider this unprofessional and your bidders will most likely think the same too. Don't be scared of getting a negative or neutral comment on your feedback record. The majority of users will consider all of you feedback before bidding, not just looking at one or two comments.

Additionally if you deserve any feedback left for you such as if you were late shipping, accept it was you fault. Don't be too worried about admitting it with an apology in response to your feedback. You may also want to compensate your winning bidder with reduced postage or a bonus item to show it was a genuine error on your part.

If you know the there is going to be a delay in completing any transaction, email the bidder and inform them. Apologize with a comment such as "This is a rare incident that's completely out of my control. I hope by looking at my feedback record you will see this is an completely isolated incident". Always try to keep on good terms with all your buyers.

8) Instant attention

Give immediate attention to your bidders & prospective bidders. Don't leave a delay of days before responding to any emails or phone calls. And following a successful transaction you may want to email your bidder to tell them when the items been shipped and when it will be expected to arrive.

I know many sellers, some of them powersellers who takes days to respond to a simple email. If you don't have time to respond immediately consider delegating the responsibility to someone else who can respond on your behalf. Never give any bidder reason to doubt whether your a genuine seller or not.

9) eBay Store

Opening an eBay Store is a necessary step for anyone medium sized seller. Not only do you benefit from cheaper & longer listings within your shop, but you can also cross-promote your products easily, send out newsletters and establish a trusted brand for your listings easier. Also you'll gain more coverage (& hopefully bids) for your listings by appearing in the eBay store directory.

10) Shipping

Don't be tempted to over price your shipping costs and try to make a small profit on this. Firstly you can be found out to easily, & it's one of the most unforgiving things for a seller to do. More importantly over pricing your shipping costs is against eBay policy.

If your offering digital goods such as an eBook or special report, you may consider a small handling fee to cover your time and administration costs. If you do make sure it's fair and clearly highlighted within the item listing. The last thing a bidder wants to do is find out there are unexpected costs associated with a purchase they've made.

Good luck with your eBay selling activity.

3 Dropshipping Secrets For Making More Money on eBay
by Jason James

Dropshipping is a very profitable way to make money on the auction powerhouse eBay. People all over the world are creating home based businesses by using wholesalers, or also known as dropshippers, to make money on eBay.

Dropshipping is simply selling products for wholesale companies, sending them the address of the person who bought from you, and they ship the product to them.

This is an incredible opportunity, most times for the cost of a meal at a restaurant, to start a profitable eBay business.

However, because of the ease and profitability of using a dropship company there is extensive competition. eBay abounds with people using this home based business model to create a living for themselves. So, how do you get by the rest and shine as the one to buy from? There are three distinct secrets used by prominent eBay Powersellers.

1. eBay Dropshippers Know What's HOT!

The top income producers, or Powersellers, on eBay do their homework. They find out what is selling. But, not only that they research deeper to find out what's selling at the top prices.

Let's say for example, you have set up an account with a dropship company and have started an eBay seller account. Now what? Start looking at what's selling. Computers are always hot.

Go back to your dropshipper, look up what computers they offer, get some graphics and pictures, upload them to the product listing page on eBay and you're now selling computers.

Don't waste your time on items that only sell a few times at low prices.

2. eBay Dropshippers Know A Little Copywriting

The Internet, no matter what site you're on, is all about the written word. In sales, that means copywriting. Writing in order to reach a sale.

If you look at the most successful sellers they don't simply upload a picture and a few facts about the product.

They write to sell the product. Why? It was stated at the beginning of this article that the competition is plentiful. Everyone selling on eBay wants that person to buy their product not yours. So, the emphasis on copywriting, writing to instill an emotional desire to want your product, must be a priority.

Take some time to learn a little bit about good copywriting and how to construct a short, but exciting, sales letter.

3. eBay Dropshippers Live To Follow.

The absolute key to making money on eBay, with dropshippers or any other type of business model, is to follow up with your customers. Once they buy from you, that should not be the last contact you have with them.

Follow up with them. How are they liking the product? Is there anything else you can do for them? Have they seen the other auctions you have listed similar to the product they already bought?

A great way to stay in touch with your customers is to start collecting their email addresses, with their permission, and send them a special "sales flyer" of products you have listed, or other non-listed dropship items.

Want to make it big with eBay? Want to make big money with dropshipping? Follow these three Powerselling secrets today and watch your profits climb!

The Right Wholesalers Help Your Ebay Business
by Jason James

Starting up your own Ebay business is not difficult but making it into a successful venture that can help you save towards retirement and achieve your other financial goals can be a bit more challenging. Tenacity, hard work, determination, a bit of luck, and the right wholesalers are all useful in establishing your Ebay business.

Taking the Next Step

Most people enter into the Ebay business universe by selling off some of the things they already have. This is a great idea because it allows sellers to learn the ropes of Ebay auctions while generating some revenue. But, there will always come a point when you don't have any more things from your household that you want to part with.

In order to sustain your Ebay business and grow to the next level, you are going to have to find more things to list in your online auctions. Some people decide to hit the flea market and antique store circuit in hopes of finding rare deals that they can snap up and turn a nice profit on by turning around and reselling the item through their Ebay business.

While this is indeed a viable route to take if you are selling older items or collectibles, there are some drawbacks to this approach. First, this is a time consuming and rather inefficient way to secure the merchandise you need to keep the online auctions rolling. Secondly, there are more and more people using Ebay for the same purposes as yourself so it is getting harder to make a profit using this approach because prices are being driven upward.

This is why you should consider selling new merchandise with your Ebay business. For one, you need not put in the leg work or time that you would trying to make the rounds at smaller shops. All you need to do is place an order and have a place set aside to store the merchandise until selling it.

Finding the right wholesalers can really make the difference between a successful Ebay business and one that only brings in some extra income into the household. There are people who buy dresses and clothing from wholesalers and turn around and sell them on Ebay for very substantial profits.

But to do this, you need to find wholesalers that can supply you with the quality of product you want at the cheapest prices possible. Unlike drop shippers who merely take an order and the money from a customer and pass it on to a wholesaler who turns around and ships the product directly to the customer, you have to take care of the packaging and shipping tasks. Therefore, you need to make as much profit as possible to compensate for your time and effort.

This means that you will not only have to do a lot of homework to find the absolute best deals possible, but you also have to guard the secret of your source so that others conducting their own online auctions don't undercut you. But when you find the right wholesalers-the money just starts rolling in! Just be careful what you wish for because the bigger your Ebay business becomes, the more effort and stress it takes to sustain it!

5 Tips For Your Ebay Business
by Jason James

If you are experiencing serious difficulties selling on ebay, you may be missing some of the subtleties that separate successful auctions from low-bid auctions.

Here are five tips you should always follow when you sell on ebay:

1) Sell at prevailing ebay market prices.

If you try to sell your products for obscenely high rates, you will end you losing profits. Although clever pricing strategy can get higher bids for your product, there really is a ceiling for what you can do selling on ebay. If your products aren't selling, reset the prices to something more reasonable.

2) Sell items that yield higher profit margins.

If you're selling radios from a dropship source that only yields a 2% profit margin per sale, you are in serious danger of losing money if you have to relist items. The easiest solution to this problem is finding another dropship source with lower prices or selecting another item that will yield a higher profit margin.

3) Improve your auction layout and design.

A poor layout and unprofessional design can easily deter potential customers. If you can't honestly say that you would be impressed with your own ebay auction template, you should trash it and make a new one. You may want to ask a friend or relative to give you a honest opinion of your template to help you assess where you should put information, pictures, and links (if it is a store template). This can do wonders to improve your conversion rates as an ebay seller.

4) Improve your store policies.

Offer to give your customers a money-back guarantee if they are not satisfied. Many people are weary of shopping on ebay because they have heard of other people who purchased things from less-than-honest ebay sellers. You should go out of your way to provide your customers with consistent store policies--and then to follow through with them when the need arises. This will boost your credibility, bring in repeat sales, and prevent nasty confrontations and negative feedback.

5) Improve your keyword and keyphrase density.

Most people search ebay using either "titles" or "titles & descriptions." If your title and item descriptions are not packed with highly-searched topics related to your product, you will seriously reduce the amount of potential buyers you could have viewing your auction.

To reiterate--if you want to make money on ebay, you should set reasonable prices, pick items with high profit margins, use a professional auction layout, set and follow consistent store policies, and pack your titles and descriptions with highly-searched keywords.

Ebay Auction Arbitrage
by Jason James

Arbitrage is the act of purchasing a product in one market for immediate resale in another. Arbitrage can only occur when there is a disparity in prices between one market and another.

If you want to make money on ebay right now and don't have a significant amount of start-up funds, arbitrage may be your best option--at least to raise the money to purchase inventory for your ebay home business.

You can start buy scouting out other auction sites to see if there is a significant disparity in prices between those sources and ebay.

I personally suggest you start with sites like bidz.com, bid4assets.com, and www.firstgov.gov/shopping/shopping.shtml. If you can't find good prices there for the products you want to sell on ebay, you can search Google for "government auctions" and "auction sites."

You should be able to find a number of online auction sites that are significantly less-trafficked than ebay, have significantly lower fees than ebay, and subsequently have significantly less buyers than ebay.

You should then exploit this market loophole--the disparity in prices--between ebay and this market by purchasing products from your selected online auction site at low prices. You should first check prices on ebay to find out what similar items are selling for. If you can purchase at a significant discount on your selected online auction site, you should do so.

You can immediately turn around and sell these products on ebay for higher prices. You should stress the discounted prices in your auctions and pack them with highly- trafficked keywords, so that it shows up for a number of different keyword and keyphrase searches.

Some people even use this arbitrage technique exclusively with ebay auctions. They buy an item on ebay and then resell it on ebay, using one market within ebay to buy and then two or more to sell.

You can use this technique, too. Search for items up for auction on ebay in popular categories, but with poorly organized templates and bad selling strategies. Purchase these items and resell them with professional templates, better descriptions, and titles that are filled with keywords that pull visitors from multiple ebay markets.

Using this simple strategy and your skills as a professional ebay seller, you can purchase items and immediately turn them around for 200% profit. If you are currently looking for a way to bring in revenue for your ebay business, this could be a quick way to build your inventory without purchasing expensive wholesale lots.

Boost Your Profits On Ebay With One Simple Trick

Did you know that the most important thing that separates ebay neophytes from successful ebay sellers and ebay powersellers is how they construct titles and descriptions?

Most ebay neophytes and unsuccessful ebayer sellers--as well as some successful ebayer sellers--have no idea that one title is any different from another. In fact, the difference between a good title and description can be the difference between 15 visitors and 250 visitors--which has huge implications for your bottom line.

So what makes a good title?--Three things: keyword-packing, accuracy, and readability.

Keyword-packing will determine when your auction is pulled up in response to an ebay search. For instance, if you are selling jewelry and use the words "white gold" in your title, whenever someone searches for "white gold" by titles, your auction will be one of the results that gets pulled up. This is why you should always load your ebay auctions with relevant keywords.

Another important part of writing titles is accuracy. If you use keywords that are highly-searched but irrelevant to your auction, your auction will get pulled up by a lot of searches, but will not end up with a high final price. If a visitor is looking for one thing and finds something entirely different, they will more than likely hit 'back' immediately. This is why you should always write a title that focuses on an accurate description of your product.

The last component of writing titles is readability. If your auction title is not readable and compelling, very few potential customers will open it. To keep it readable and compelling, avoid tossing together a jumble of words that will get pulled by more searches, but wont attract buyers. Also include descriptive, compelling words and phrases to attract buyers, such as "new" or "50% off."

In addition to writing a good title, you will also need a good description.

A good description should also include keyword-packing. As I discussed earlier, you should include as many relevant keywords as you can in your description; however, you should try to keep this within reason. Don't fill your description with random keywords. Instead, insert them into your description as often as possible without sacrificing readability.

You will also want to write a compelling description. You should consider what separates you from other ebay sellers and focus on those points. For instance, let's say all of your merchandise is brand new. You could make it a point to stress how other ebay sellers often auction off broken and refurbished items--and that they can only be assured that they will receive high quality products if they shop at your store.

The gap between ebay powersellers and ebay newbies is big, but some of the steps to bridging the gap are small. Using better titles and descriptions is one of those small steps. If you follow the methods I outlined in this article, you could easily boost the amount of visitors your auctions receive by a factor of five or ten.

Have You Got eBay PowerSeller Potential?
by Darren Yates

What exactly is a PowerSeller?

PowerSellers are the eBay members that have made it, you can recognize them by the ‘PowerSeller’ badge next to their name. You’ve probably seen these people across eBay as you go about your usual business – to succeed on eBay, you need to think the way they do.

How do you get Awarded PowerSeller Status? eBay decides who can be a PowerSeller and who can’t, and they have strict rules. To get in at the minimum PowerSeller level, you must have a feedback rating of at least 100 (minimum 98% positive) and sell at least $1,000 worth of items every month for three months in a row.

There are different levels of PowerSeller membership as you sell items of greater value:

$1,000 is bronze

$3,000 is silver

$10,000 is gold

$25,000 is platinum

$125,000 is titanium

If PowerSellers ever fail to meet the required amount of sales, or their feedback falls below 98% positive, then they lose their PowerSeller status. Essentially the only eBay users that get to be PowerSellers on eBay are the users that have been successful for a while and are on track to stay successful.

The Marketplace and the Shop.

This is the most important part of understanding how PowerSellers think. They don’t see what they’re doing as being some random bazaar, or a hobby – instead, they see themselves as a business.

For example, if you run a stall in a marketplace, the chances are that you have a general area of business, but you mostly just sell whatever you can get your hands on that week. If your dodgy buddy got his hands on a job lot of something at a discount, then that’s what you’ll be selling. This might be fun – and when you have a good week, you’ll have a really good week – but it’s no way to run a real business in the long-term.

PowerSellers think far more like shops. They sell the same things again and again, every week – regular stock for regular customers. They do ‘boring’ business things like keep inventories and budgets. They know what they’re going to be selling, how much they buy it for and how much they expect to sell for. Just like a real shop, there can be hard times sometimes, but their income is stable and their business can grow slowly.

The best advice I can give you on thinking like a PowerSeller is this: don’t take long-term risks for short-term gain. Look after your reputation, manage your selling properly, provide good customer service and the rewards will come to you in due course. And you’ll get a little badge next to your name that makes people trust you more!

One option that you may of missed is - What can eBay do for any other businesses you have. Millions of people visit eBay every day – why keep everything separate when you’re starting to tap into that kind of power?

In fact $14 out of every $100 spent online is spent at eBay!

5 High Profit Secrets To Write Better eBay Listings
by Jason James

How do you make more money on eBay with your current and/or future listings? That's the question that is demanding an answer.

Making money on eBay and selling products through auctions is much like owning your own brick and mortar store. For example, when people come to a store, the most important aspect to selling anything is in the way it's presented.

Big companies spend hundreds of millions of dollars to have people build presentable displays of products so they sell. It's call merchandising.

That's the answer to making more money on eBay. Merchandising.

Or, in eBay auction terms, writing your product listing. Here's five high profit ways you can write better listings.

1. HTML it!

Take some time to learn some basic HTML, or the language the web uses to display websites.

Using HTML you can easily create a very nice looking "display" of your product and build a brand for yourself. By keeping the same look in all your listings people will feel comfortable with your position as a seller and theirs as the buyer.

HTML allows you the opportunity to make your listing stand out and be more professional. Use the HTML editor on the product listing page to make it much easier, even if you don't know a lot HTML.

2. Don't Scream At People.

One of the biggest mistakes people with their eBay listing is the use of all capital letters in the title. IT'S VERY ANNOYING!

Using capital letters is a means of expressing surprise, anger, sadness, discouragement, and other sorts of unhappy emotions. Not a great way to instill an emotional response to buy.

Now, notice I didn't say don't use any caps in your title. Just not all caps. A title is just that... a title. Think of a book title or movie title. Capitalize the first letter of each word.

3. Your eBay listing must be clear.

When presenting a listing for your product you must make it absolutely clear what you are selling. Concise descriptions as well as crystal clear pictures will keep your prospective customer interested in the product. If they are unsure about anything, at any time... you will probably lose them to your competitor.

4. True Powersellers go a step further.

It's not enough to make the product listing very clear, but also your terms and conditions. This means your shipping policy and costs, return policy, any warranties that you, or the company, offer, and any guarantees associated with the product.

This goes the extra mile into creating a comfortable atmosphere where the person reading your listing will be more inclined to buy from you.

5. Follow a listing schedule.

Before you ever place the listing ask yourself a question, "Is this the best time to sell it?" Even the best, most thought out listing, will fail if the time isn't right.

Create a listing schedule that clearly lists the starting and ending dates of your auction. This will ensure that, if you're selling holiday products or seasonal products, the buyer will receive them on time.

Your listing is a part of your business. This is where you begin to build a long lasting relationship, one of comfort and recognition, that continues for long lasting income.

Grab More Time For Your eBay Auction
by Jason James

When selling on eBay, time is the one factor that is never on your side. Obviously the longer your item can stop on eBay, the higher visibility it receives & the more bids it is likely to get.

eBay presently offers five different lengths of listings, either a 1,3,5,7 or 10 day listing.

While a 10 day listing will give you the most exposure your item will not appear within the top of the relevant category immediately. Those items which are ending soon are the first to be shown within eBays listings. Generally new items appear at the bottom of the category listings and work there way towards the first page. On a 10 day listing it will take the best part of a week before your listing is shown on the first page of search results.

Therefore anyone browsing the eBay categories will not see your item in the eBay search results. As with search engines, many users will only look in the top two pages of results.

That is why the 1 day auction format offers a few advantages. Your item will be viewable immediately to any users browsing though the eBay categories. However, 1 day may not give many bidders the opportunity to find your item before the item ends.

So, why not get the best of both sides.

There is a way to both, give your item maximum visibility on eBay while also keeping it in the top search results for the category it is listed in.

It's a very simple tactic that anyone can use. As long as your item has no bids & doesn't end within 12 hours, eBay allows you to revise your listing. This revision can be anything, from title to pictures used including Auction length.

When you first submit your listing to eBay select a three day format. This will put it within the top two pages of results in this category. Allow your listing some time, to see if it's discovered and if not after two days just revise it to a 5 day auction. Because your auction will have already been running for two days, when you revise the listing it will show three days remaining, and still be within the top listings for the category.

If it's still not discovered and has no bids, just repeat the procedure for seven and then for ten days. If your able to revise your listing four times, you'll easily gain more coverage than any other listing in the same category. And more coverage should mean more bids!

Want To Be An eBay Millionaire? Have You Got What It Takes?
by Darren Yates

Taking the leap to full-time as an eBay seller is living the dream: earning a real income, working at home, being your own boss etc. It’s the promise of a million scams, but it’s finally come true, at least for some.

What they don’t always tell you in the success stories is that becoming a full-time eBay seller is not for everyone. You really should try it part-time before you consider taking it up full-time, and even then, caution is recommended. Before you go and burn your suit, here’s a list of questions you should ask yourself.

How Much Am I Earning From eBay Now?

Calculate how many hours a week you spend working on eBay related things (be honest here), then divide this by the average profit you make in a week. If you were doing full-time hours, would you earn as much as you earn now?

Do I Have a Good Job?

Consider what you might lose if you quit your job to focus on eBay. If you’re in a well paid job with good promotion prospects then it’s well worth reconsidering: you might get a few years down the line and wish you’d stayed in your traditional job, as you’d probably be the CEO by now.

Can I Really Make Much More Money?

Unless you’re selling a large quantity of small goods, most of what you do on eBay will be waiting for auctions to end and you can wait at work just as easily as you can at home. Whether you would make more money on eBay really depends on what kinds of items you’re selling – for low value items, going full-time could be a good move. For high-value ones, the chances are you’ll hit the limits of how much money you have to invest in inventory long before you hit the limits on your time.

Can I Handle Working At Home?

Apart from anything else, you might find that your dream of working at home is more of a nightmare in reality. Your family can start to depend on you to get things done during the day. If you have a wife and children then they can resent the fact that you’re in the house but refuse to have anything to do with them for large parts of the day. Giving in to them and stopping work for a while will cause your profits to slide.

Would I Survive if it All Went Wrong?

Could you get by if you had a month or two where you sold nothing? Or would you be desperately looking around for a job and cursing the day you ever discovered eBay? That’s the real test.

If you are not phased by these questions, then I guess you could be cut out for the eBay lifestyle – and even if you were phased, you’d be surprised just how far you can get part-time.

Google vs eBay, or Google vs YahooBay?
by Sramana Mitra

The media is full of stories and analysis on Google’s announcement of GoogleBase, a user-database, that predict thet Google is taking sure steps towards eBay’s turf.

eBay is slowly and surely falling prey to its supremely powerful, but easy to copy and rather narrow core business model of facilitating B:C and C:C e-commerce. Needless to say, Google’s entry into their turf will be a big blow. Google will, no doubt, hit eBay where there is a low-hanging fruit waiting to be picked: eBay’s sordid user interface. In the 10 years of its existence, eBay has not bothered to address this glaring weakness. Google does clean User Experiences very well, and my bet would be that they will cream eBay on this topic. Also interesting is their introduction of a user-generated database, which will enable applications such as Yahoo! Stores easily, too. Potent combination.

I said once before, that Yahoo should acquire eBay. eBay’s market cap is $52 Billion, whereas Yahoo’s is $50 Billion. It would roughly be a merger of equals, but I believe Yahoo’s future is far more promising than eBay’s. Hence, judging by futures, Yahoo ought to acquire eBay.

Product Search and Search Engine Marketing are key areas that, as industries, need to reside together. Amazon realized it, and launched A9, their very own search engine. However, Search is a competitive business, and an overnight search giant will not be created at this stage of the game. I don’t recommend, therefore, that eBay also follows suit.

However, at least 5 different properties that Yahoo has could tremendously leverage eBay: Small Business, Stores, Search, Shopping, and Overture. Finally, as Yahoo unfolds its content and personalization strategies, there will be a tremendous further opportunity to build value on top of their existing framework.

Not the least, but last, Meg Whitman has indicated that she wants out. Terry Semel, however, is dedicated and focused.

Then?

How To Find Top-Selling Ebay Items
by Jason James

Unless you are willing to pay for software that finds top-selling ebay items, you will have to conduct your own research by hand. Luckily for you, there is a simple method you can use to perform market research for ebay.

If you are already selling on ebay, you probably have a general idea of what you want to sell. For instance, you might know you want to sell collectibles, jewelry, or consumer electronics. However, what you might not know is what you want to sell within those categories or what you should be selling within those categories to maximize your profits per sale.

Your goal should be to select products that have both a high demand (high search popularity) and a low supply (number and quality of sellers). In business, this is generally referred to as a "niche." If you want to maximize your profits, you should search out a number of niches within your ebay selling sub-category.

You can start this process by going to http://category-keyword.ebay.com/all_categories.html and clicking your current selling category and then sub- category. Drill down and build a list as you go of potential niches by recording the "commonly searched words" for each level.

Continue to drill down until you have the ebay search results for a given niche. For instance, if you continue to drill down for jewelry, you can eventually get results for "white gold rings" or "sapphire gold rings." Spend some time analyzing the raw amount of results (i.e. 4300 results for "white gold rings") you get for a given keyphrase, the quality of the sellers within the niche, and the prevailing market rates within the niche.

If supply is low and demand is high for that given ebay selling niche, prices will be inordinately high, allowing you to maintain high profit margins until your niche fills out with more sellers.

In order to assure consistent profits, you should select a number of profitable ebay selling niches and sell within each. When you pick a good niche, your sales will reflect it: your merchandise will move fast and you will consistently sell over the ebay market values.

If you find a good niche, but do not have sufficient stock to sell within that niche, you can simply find a dropshipper or an affiliate program to do all of the work for you. You can sign up at places like www.cj.com, www.linkshare.com, and http://www.megagoods.com for free and immediately start selling items as an affiliate.
